Approval of the Environmental Terms for the IGI Poseidon Pipeline

The Ministry of Environment and Energy last week approved the environmental terms for the onshore section of the IGI Poseidon gas pipeline that extends from Kipi (Prefecture of Evros – Greek-Turkish Borders) to Florovouni (Prefecture of Thesprotia) with a total length of approximately 760km and 48’’ diameter.

The Environmental Impact Assessment Study for the onshore section was prepared by ASPROFOS Engineering S.A. in the framework of a Consortium for the Project Owner, i.e. IGI Poseidon S.A. company, which is a 50-50% Joint Venture between DEPA SA (Greek) and Edison International Holding (Italian).

It is mentioned that the approval of the environmental terms for the offshore section of IGI Poseidon pipeline (approximately 216 km from which 146km on Greek territory), which crosses the Ionian Sea up to the landfall in Italy and the receiving terminal in Otranto, has already been given by the Ministry of Environment and Energy. The Environmental Impact Assessment Study of the offshore section on Greek territory has also been prepared by ASPROFOS Engineering S.A.
