Erection of a New Caustic Soda Tank
Client: Hellenic Petroleum (HEL.PE.)| Country: Greece| Period: 2003
An LSTK Project.
The project entailed the construction of a new 2.800 m3 Caustic Soda Tank for storage purposes, upon dismantling and replacement of an obsolete tank for Caustic Soda storage. As a contractor, ASPROFOS provided all pertinent Engineering, Procurement of Materials, Construction, Pre-commissioning activities and Dismantling of existing Tank services. The new tank would be fed with product from ships via a 14’’ pipe of ~450m length, terminating on a platform at the manhole level. A flexible pipe connecting the manhole to the ship would assure the transfer of the product via a dedicated loading pump to the tank. Transfer of the Caustic Soda from the tank to ballast trucks and vice versa would be facilitated via loading arms.
To complete the project and deliver it on time to the client, ASPROFOS tackled the following issues:
- Engineering design which included a Soil Investigation analysis and Study, Detailed Engineering (issue of all pertinent drawings, specifications and Tank Erection Requisition);
- Procurement services which included issue of Data Sheets for supply of materials (Steel Plates, Instruments, Pipes & Fittings) in accordance with Client’s Standards;
- Construction services which included site Leveling and Foundations, preparation of a safety basin encasing the tank, erection of tank fully equipped with instruments, electrical devices and ancillary steel structures, installation of pumps, and other minor works linked to the integrated construction activities. Qualified contractors performed all works under the close supervision of Asprofos and the project was properly delivered in line with the contractual obligations assumed.
