Benzene Saturation Unit

Client: Hellenic Petroleum (HELPE) / Aspropyrgos Refinery| Country: Greece| Period: 2000

Scope of work:

Grass roots development and erection of a new Benzene Saturation unit aiming at the reduction of the benzene content of reformate product to less than 0.5% wt, so as to comply with the new fuel quality regulations (AUTO-OIL – Phase1).

ASPROFOS’s services included:

  • management and general coordination of the project’s activities (work schedule, monthly progress and performance reports);
  • fulfillment of detailed design for basic equipment, instruments, piping and other items of the unit (material requisitions, civil drawings and studies, electrical drawings, etc);
  • issue of bids and follow-up of contracts and orders placed.

For the implementation of the project design in construction and in particular during construction supervision ASPROFOS:

  • supervised all Contractor’s site activities with respect to schedule, quality and safety to ensure full compliance with the project requirements;   
  • established an effective site coordination procedure for routine daily communication between Client, ASPROFOS and the Contractors; reviewed/approved the Contractor’s monthly progress and payment certificates;
  • inspected and verified secure and on time supply of materials;
  • prepared close-out reports and issued final payment certification.
