Marketing Study for Natural Gas in a Balkan country

Scope of work:

Market study considering various alternatives for the development, transportation and marketing of natural gas in a Balkan country’s oil and gas fields. The study encompasses:

  • Review of the demand side: Review of potential markets in the region; identification of potential uses; estimation of future demand (various scenarios); review of competitive energy forms and their prices; review of institutional barriers and terms to access said markets; review of gas quality requirements.
  • Review of the supply side: Existing gas reserves, likely production capacities over time, gas production and processing costs.
  • Assessment of infrastructure projects: Identification of necessary infrastructure projects needs and its costs, analysis of competition in gas supply
  • Review of the business environment: Legal, institutional and regulatory framework for gas activity as well as electricity activity (in view of the use of gas for power production); transit possibilities and costs; cost of capital for investments in the region; assessment of the impact of existing or planned infrastructure projects on the development of demand in the region
  • Preliminary recommendations regarding the fields that are suggested for development, timing for their development, markets and market segments where the gas is to be marketed, infrastructure projects.
  • Preliminary economic evaluation of the project and review of possble finance sources.
